SAP Protection from the Office…or the Kitchen Table

While many companies are experiencing increased concern about their system security with a recession looming throughout the COVID-19 outbreak and beyond, some companies are faring quite well. They haven’t skipped a beat and are managing their SAP environments and access controls seamlessly from remote locations.

Recently, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) warned about the increase of fraud that has historically taken place in economic downturns. President and CEO of the ACFE Bruce Dorris further cautioned that this is no time for companies to let their guards down when it comes to internal controls. Yet, according to The COVID Impact on Internal Audit report published by the Institute of Internal Auditors, already companies have decreased internal audit staffing and outsourcing permanently or temporarily, with a 40 percent decrease in the consumer-facing industry alone.

However, now we have virtual employees to keep our businesses going, which adds another layer of worry for audit, compliance and security teams. They have to manage access and risks remotely, and potentially with fewer audit and security team members, while having the confidence that they have the right solutions in place to protect company assets while members of their workforce with access are functioning from as many locations as there are employees.

Those companies that have already implemented cloud-based access control solutions with anywhere, anytime access are set for the crisis that no one saw coming. They can manage access regardless of where they and their employees work. Audit and compliance efforts can continue uninterrupted. Access reviews can still be performed easily online, and audit-ready reporting can be produced without fail. Some of our own customers told us how they are managing access controls while working from home.

One leader in charge of managing SAP at a mega risk management and loss protection company with thousands of employees noted that “Although the new normal under COVID-19 has created a remote workforce, it has not elongated the time for fulfilling control functions. Fortunately, using ERP Maestro’s cloud solution negates any impediments imposed by a diversity of physical locations. It runs just as easily from someone’s kitchen as it does from being called on to perform from inside an office.”

Flawless Continuity in Any Sector

According to Multi-Color Corporation’s Global Director, IT Risk, Governance, and Compliance John Mark Kennedy, “ERP Maestro continues to work flawlessly. As a global manufacturer, we had to quickly react to varying levels of local, state, and national COVID-19 implications. From an IT perspective, as we triaged the impact of a sudden move to work from home (WFH) globally, one of the nice things about all of our SaaS platforms, including ERP Maestro, is there are no WFH implications; they simply work wherever you are. The ability to integrate SSO from ERP Maestro with Azure Active Directory also allows us to control access to ERP Maestro, as well as utilize additional controls such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) through Azure for added security.”

ERP Maestro’s access controls work wherever you work. Companies already using our solutions are ahead of the game, but the good news is that those needing higher-performance tools with extreme simplicity can catch up with an easy download and install from anywhere, often in less than 60 minutes.
